The
increase of single mothers is staggering and also very liberating.
In the rough and tumble of this chaotic liberation, it can be
challenging for a single mom not to lose her way (and her sense of
humor) as she travels down "Single Mom Lane". Momalogue, A
Journey through a Single Mother’s Hood is a “LAUGH OUT LOUD”
collection of humorous stories and jokes. Julie’s quirky parenting
views capture the truth, struggle and the glory of raising three
children on her own as she delights audiences and always leaves them
wanting more. The portrayal of Julie’s humor translates into a “can
do” attitude and her triumphs cannot be summed up easily, for there
are many! On stage Julie brags about her finally completed jewelry
set… of pasta jewelry (that she keeps in a cool dry place)!
She proudly displays a rigatoni toe ring, bowtie pasta earrings and
a string of glittered macaroni shells. She confesses that when
times were tough, she had to boil the linguini anklets and matching
bangles… An audience favorite is her tooth fairy joke: Julie
accidentally placed two ten-dollar bills under her daughter’s
pillow instead of two one-dollar bills. The next night she
left a note under her daughter’s pillow that read “I need eighteen
dollars back… or more teeth”.
